President Rashid stresses the need to encourage the investment opportunities

    President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid stressed on Tuesday, the importance of encouraging investment opportunities in the agricultural sector to achieve sustainable development, affirming the need to work for securing fair water shares from the upstream countries.
     
    “The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received, at Baghdad Palace, the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas al-Alaywi,"said the media office of the Presidency of the Republic a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). “The two sides discussed the challenges facing Iraq in the issue of water scarcity and its direct effects on the agricultural sector."
    The President emphasized "The need to secure fair water shares from the source countries," pointing to "the importance of the agricultural sector as one of the basic resources for the national economy and providing food security."
     
    He stressed the importance of encouraging investment opportunities in this vital sector to achieve sustainable development, and the use of advanced technologies and modern irrigation methods to advance the agricultural reality and to confront the environmental effects of drought, desertification and climate change, which has become a global crisis.
    President Rashid referred to "Iraq's participation in the water conference organized by the United Nations in New York recently, and its output for addressing the global water crisis, and the affirmation of the heads and leaders of the participating countries to support Iraq's efforts in this field."
    For his part, the Minister of Agriculture elaborated, "The ministry's plan for the current agricultural season, and its endeavor to confront the obstacles facing this vital sector.
