Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, affirmed Saturday, that medical and health security are the most important requirements of the citizen.
The Prime Minister said, in a press conference, during the inauguration of the National Health Factory affiliated with the Ministry of Health, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the national factory will secure all sterilizers and medical supplies for the Ministry of Health," stressing that “opening of the national factory is a message from the government to localize the pharmaceutical industry.”

He continued, "The state must be able to secure medical supplies," noting that "the volume of the pharmaceutical market has exceeded $3 billion, while the national production of medicines is only 10 percent."

Al-Sudani indicated that "The national factory will meet the needs of patients in hospitals in terms of antiseptics, sterilizers, and dialysis solutions, and it will have 15 percent of the sales of the produced materials."

He added: "Our participation in the opening of the Factory is a message from the Government to the private sector in the field of the localization of the pharmaceutical industry. This goal was set by the Government in its programme and began to be implemented in a practical manner through workshops and meetings between the Ministry of Health, advisers and the Prime Minister's Office with pharmaceutical producers, whether from the state sector or the private one."

He noted that "drug security is one of the most important requirements for the security of citizens and the state in light of epidemic crises, wars and economic crises, and the state must be able, through the private sector and the government sector, to secure health and medicine requirements for citizens, otherwise we will wait for the shipment to come, so we set this goal to be achieved ".

He affirmed,"This factory will provide us within two years with an amount of 40% of the needs of medicines and health supplies for all government institutions and the private sector, and this will provide tremendous job opportunities for citizens”.
