Transportation Minister details the Iraqi-Turkish talks regarding the port of Al-Faw

    Minister of Transportation, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, revealed Thursday the details of the talks held by the Iraqi delegation, headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, with the Turkish side in Ankara.

     Al-Saadawi said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the government vision aspires to transform Iraq into an international trade center between Asia and Europe, and therefore the road of development assumes great importance in this context."

     He added, "The government's curriculum for the prime minister is centered on transforming Iraq into a center for global trade between Asia and Europe, through the great port of Al-Faw project and its associated economic zones, residential clusters, and tourist attractions," noting that "this project will contribute to strengthening economic and trade relations between Iraq and its neighbors, led by Turkey on the one hand, and the countries of Europe and Asia on the other.”

     He also stated, "The port project includes the development road that will be formed by a highway and a railway line, and it will pass through many Iraqi governorates, up to the Turkish border, which will allow access to the port of Mersin and Europe via Istanbul," noting that "the Iraqi government has put forward details of these projects to the Turkish side to enhance the economic and trade partnership with Turkey.
