Al-Sudani Chaired a Security Meeting in Diyala and Ordered to Send Military and Security Reinforcements to the Governorate

    The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, held a meeting with the security commanders in Diyala Governorate. He arrived in Diyala at noon today, leading a delegation of government, military, and service officials. 

    The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA)," Al-Sudani listened to a briefing on the conditions of the Governorate and the efforts of the security forces to establish security and stability throughout its districts and neighborhoods. 
    The meeting focused on discussing the repeated security breaches in several areas of Diyala Governorate and the mechanisms to respond to them." 

    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed his team to send military and security reinforcements to the Diyala Governorate. He also gave the security commanders two weeks to establish the rule of law in all areas of the Governorate.

    Al-Sudani stressed that the government attaches considerable importance to the security sector throughout Iraq, for that is the foundation for social and economic stability. He reiterated his rejection of "loose ends" in the security sector and that the standard legal procedures will be followed to prosecute the perpetrators disrupting the security in Diyala and committing crimes.

    Al-Sudani stated that some people that do not like the government's approach to economic activity and are trying to keep the government engaged with other issues. He stressed that the government will continue implementing its economic and development programs and has no "redlines" regarding enhancing security and law enforcement.
