Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani affirmed today, Tuesday, that More than three decades have passed, and the memory of the 15th of Shaaban Movement (1991 Iragi uprisings) is still a moral lesson and evidence of the monstrosity of the dictatorship and the atrocities committed against unarmed women, men, children, and elderly people, that defied tyranny and rejected humiliation.

Al-Sudani said in a statement issued on the anniversary of the Shaaban uprising, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The intifada uprising was stifled by a repression campaign that was not recorded by the media. The Saddamist Baath massacred many innocents and created mass graves throughout Iraq. Still, that campaign of hatred opened the door to the shameful end of the dictator.”
The statement continued, “The Month of March of that unforgettable year forged the people's cohesion with the sacrifices of the martyrs. The intifada (uprising) was made with blood, tears, and mothers' pains from everywhere in Iraq, the farthest southern cities and governorates, and from the villages and towns of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, to make the whole world know that in Iraq there are people whose soul never die, and they reject humiliation”.

“A salute to the martyrs of the uprising and the oppressed in the mass graves; God bless them for their victory and martyrdom that exposed the repression of the Saddamist Regime. What a great honor for them and their children. They have the right to be proud of what their parents and brothers gave, and we have the right to cherish their sacrifices as a beacon for our endeavors today,” the statement added.

Al-Sudani affirmed “We honor the martyrs of the uprising and the martyrs of Iraq throughout history by striving to create a bright future for Iraq. To build a homeland that is a source of pride among the nations, the martyrs' sons and daughters will be proud of their homeland. We honor the martyrs by delivering on our promises of the government of services, the government of generosity. A government that serves the people, provides for their needs, preserves their dignity, and safeguards their future. We are firmly committed to that, no retreat, no hesitation”.

He concluded his statement by saying “Glory, honor, and immortality for the martyrs of the intifada uprising and for the martyrs of the Iraqi Kurdistan uprising.”
