1991 Iraqi uprising represented people's will to fight dictatorship and tyranny, says President Rashid

    The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed on Monday, that 1991 Iraqi uprising (al-Intifada al-Sha’baniyya) represented people's will to fight dictatorship and tyranny.
     
    "The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, marked the anniversary of al-Intifada al-Sha’baniyya- the March 1991 uprising”, said the Presidency of the Republic in a statement , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    " Al-Intifada al-Sha’baniyya, the uprising of March 1991, which first sparked in Basra and millions of free Iraqis in other provinces responded to its call, was a great expression of the people's will to fight dictatorship and tyranny, and their rejection of the reckless policies of the tyrannical regime,” said President Rashid in his statement to mark this occasion.
     
    He continued, "It is the uprising that will continue to live in the conscience of the people, as history and future generations will preserve it as an expression of the great sacrifices that the Iraqis made for freedom,"adding "Glory be to the martyrs who watered the soil of Iraq with their pure blood, and eternal glory to all the heroes who made the world hear the voice of the Iraqis as they chanted for dignity, justice and a bright future."
