Iraq and EU discuss ban removal over the Iraqi National Airlines

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, discussed on Monday, with the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Villa Fariola, removing the ban on the Iraqi national airlines carrier.

    Al-Saadawi received Fariola and his accompanying delegation to discuss all issues and files related to the transport sector, according to a statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    During the meeting, they discussed prospects for cooperation, coordination, and areas of international partnership between Iraq and the EU countries in all fields of transport and joint work spaces within economic development.

    The meeting touched on the importance of lifting the European ban on the national airlines and "the necessity of applying safety conditions in aviation and resolving problems in front of this important file; to restore confidence in front of European countries and the world as a whole in the technology and development of Iraqi airlines."

    In turn, the EU Ambassador praised "the great role played by the Minister and his keenness to develop transport joints and sectors, promote the activation and completion of stalled projects, as well as initiate new plans and projects."
