Al-Darraji: Weapons import will not be affected by the exchange rate

    The representative of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Sahib al-Darraji, confirmed that combating corruption in armament contracts and the localization of military industries are among the government's priorities, while noting that economic stability is guaranteed in Iraq.

    Al-Daraji said during the opening of the Iraqi security, defense and military industries exhibition, which was held at the Baghdad International Fair and was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The security forces follow a method of arming that is appropriate to the stage of development taking place in their leadership and management," noting that "this requires a balance in The armament process is commensurate with the requirements of the stage, the political situation, and the country's foreign policy, which in turn depends on balance in managing the region's files.

    He added, "Iraq has surpassed many political and security crises, which are the terrorist gangs of ISIS, where the Iraqi army and other security services fought this organization on behalf of the world, which is indebted to Iraq for this battle," noting that "the attrition of the armed forces in technical and logistical equipment must be that it be compensated, and the world should help Iraq to strengthen and rearm the Iraqi army with the latest weapons and equipment and focus on cyber security, because future battles will depend more on technical and cyber aspects  .

    And he continued, "There are multiple economic crises that are always fabricated by the enemies of Iraq who do not want the country to be stable.

    The new Iraqi government has been diligent in solving these crises and dealing with their effects in the ways it deems appropriate and preserving the interests of the people," explaining that "economic stability is very important and we assure all the companies present that stability The economy in Iraq is guaranteed because it possesses the goods and capabilities, which makes it able to fend off any artificial crises related to its economy, including the dollar exchange rate crisis, which shows that it was temporary and fabricated at specific dates, but the government is now working to stabilize the exchange rate, which is a matter of short time, and the difference between the exchange rate will greatly decrease. The official price and the parallel market price, and this issue will not affect the Iraqi army's imports of weapons or the country's economic dealings with other countries and companies.

    He stressed "the need for transparency in contracts for armaments and combating any possible corruption or extortion that any company trying to supply weapons to Iraq may be exposed to, and it will bear the responsibility if it does not communicate properly with officials of the Iraqi state to reveal any good intentions in the contracts," pointing out to The fight against corruption is one of the priorities of the Iraqi government, especially with regard to arming operations and contracts.
