Iraqi-Italian discussion on legal and justice agreements

    Minister of Justice Khalid Shwani discussed on Monday, with the Italian ambassador to Iraq Maurizio Greganti, the conclusion of legal and justice agreements between the two countries.

    Shwani received Greganti in his official office, as the two sides discussed accelerating the procedures for signing legal and justice agreements between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of Iraq and Italy," according to a statement by the Ministry of Justice, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    "The Ministry of Justice is interested in organizing relations and memorandums of understanding with the Italian side in various fields, as well as addressing the legal problems that the Iraqi government seeks to solve," said Shwani. 

    he noted that "the government adopts a policy of openness to all countries, including Italy, as in this regard, it will be the completion of the study of mutual legal documents and the organization of the agreements to be concluded with the Italian Ministry of Justice."

    In turn, the Italian ambassador praised "the reform measures taken by the Minister, especially in the file of the Iraqi Reform Department, which are consistent with human rights standards."

    The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Department of Justice Relations, Ahmed Luaibi Abdul-Hussein, and a representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
