18 accused of dollar exchange rate manipulating arrested: FIIA

    The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA at the Ministry of the Interior announced Wednesday the arrest of 18 suspects for manipulating the exchange rate of the dollar in three governorates.

    A statement by FIIA, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the FIIA’s detachments arrested 18 suspects in Baghdad, Basra and Najaf, who possessed sums of money more than 795 million Iraqi dinars and 385,000 US dollars."

    The statement pointed out, "The detachments closed many unauthorized money exchange offices, and legal measures were taken against them."
