The member of the parliament, Ahmed Al-Rubaie, confirmed today, Friday, that there is support and an efforts to reduce the price of the dollar, while calling for investing in oil prices and providing job opportunities.
Al-Rubaie told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Some MPs are demanding a reduction in the price of the dollar and a return to its previous rate, especially after the rise in oil prices, as it reached nearly $95 a barrel," noting that "there is a serious efforts from many members of Parliament to decrease dollar exchange rate the dollar prices soar.
He added that "the rise in the value of the dollar greatly affected all matters, especially on the poor people," expressing his hope that "the political blocs support this decision to reduce the exchange price of the dollar and support this public demand, as there is a great interaction by members of the House of Representatives in this direction."
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, presented six proposals regarding the dollar exchange rate, including summoning the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank under the dome of Parliament.
The parliament set, tomorrow, Saturday, a date for a meeting with Finance Minister Ali Allawi and Central Bank Governor Mustafa Ghaleb.
The media department of the parliament said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "A meeting will be held next Saturday, headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, with the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank to discuss the dollar exchange rate."
