PM Al-Sudani orders to rehabilitee and restore the house of the poet al-Sayyab

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, directed on Saturday, the competent teams to start the rehabilitation and restoration of the house of the poet al-Sayyab.
 
“To highlight the great symbolic status of the Iraqi and Arab poet Badr Shakir al-Sayyab, as the pioneer of the renewal trends and movement in contemporary Arab poetry, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, directed the competent teams to start the rehabilitation and restoration of the house of the poet al-Sayyab, which was recently damaged and some parts had collapsed”, the Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency (INA).
Al-Sudani stressed that the late poet Badr Shakir al-Sayyab is a great poetic landmark and an Iraqi icon we are proud of. It is the duty of the government to preserve his entire legacy, including his house in Basra, which receives visitors from Iraq and other counties, the statement added.
 
 
It’s to be mentioned that Badr Shakir al-Sayyab's house is located in the village of Jekur in Abu al-Khasib in Basra Governorate. He wrote the most outstanding modern Arabic poetry in this house, such as Rain Song
