Oil Ministry to launch promising projects for increasing production in the south

    The Ministry of Oil announced on Sunday promising projects in the southern refineries to increase production capacity and improve the quality of oil products.
     
    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Undersecretary for Liquidation Affairs Hamed Younis chaired the leadership meeting of the liquidation sector in the presence of a number of directors of companies and departments of the ministry and a group of engineering and technical staff."
     
     
    The ministry added that "the meeting discussed future plans and projects with economic feasibility in order to achieve the desired goals," noting "the need to pay attention to the level of services provided by companies in various fields, and work to find appropriate solutions to the obstacles that may hinder work."
     
     
    Younis explained during the meeting that "the ministry, within its plans, is proceeding with projects to develop the infrastructure of the refining sector, in addition to building a number of units to improve all petroleum products, including gasoline," stressing "the ministry's keenness to support projects to increase the production capacity of Iraqi refineries and improve the quality of oil products in accordance with European specifications (Euro 5)."
     
    He pointed out that "the southern refineries will witness during the coming period the implementation of a number of projects to develop and rehabilitate the units of the isomerization and improve gasoline, and the installation of new units for Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) in cooperation with one of the sober Japanese companies, and is the first in Iraq, noting that "the project aims to provide high-quality oil products according to European specifications (Euro 5)."

    "The project is working on producing oil products with high added value, such as gasoline and diesel, in accordance with standard specifications and environmental standards," he said.
