President Rashid emphasizes the need to activate joint coordination between the Ministries of Justice and the Interior

    The President of the Republic Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid stressed on Thursday, the need to activate joint coordination between the Ministries of Justice and the Interior.
    A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, "The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at Baghdad Palace, the Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, and the Minister of Justice, Khaled Shwani."
     
    During the meeting, the President of the Republic stressed "the need to revitalize joint coordination between the two ministries to help the security and legal issues take their course as a collective and shared responsibility, emphasizing "the importance of consolidating the principles of human rights and justice for the victims, strengthening the efforts made to resolve the cases of detainees and inmates, as well as improving the services provided to citizens in the justice departments, facilitating the completion of daily paperwork, and contributing to combating administrative and financial corruption."
     
    He pointed to "The importance of Ministry Interior role and its security services as the basis in establishing security and stability, and providing a safe environment for citizens," noting, "the need for the ministry to make exceptional efforts to maintain security and fill gaps that terrorist groups can exploit."
     
    He explained that "The Ministry of Justice is an important ministry, and it is necessary for it to take upon itself the enforcement of the laws in force that are directly related to the lives of citizens, as well as taking into account the provision of services to detainees and convicts and improving mechanisms for dealing with them in line with international standards and ensuring the preservation of their dignity," noting that "the necessity of classifying places of detention to ensure that perpetrators of minor and wrongful crimes do not jail with those convicted of serious crimes.
     
    in turn, the Minister of Interior affirmed, "The Ministry is taking strict measures and punishing those found to have violated the laws and regulations in force, or those proven to have abused detainees and prisoners, tortured them, or violated their rights," noting that "the Ministry is continuing to create places that include rehabilitating programs for those convicted of drug abuse crimes."
     
    While the Minister of Justice indicated that "the ministry has taken new measures to ensure places of detention that are compatible with international standards," explaining that "the next stage will witness a remarkable change in everything related to feeding and equipping prisoners, in addition to adopting formulas that help reduce overcrowding in places of detention and facilitate procedures for visits of their families."
