President Rashid receives the delegation of the United Nations Human Settlements Program

    The President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, stressed on Sunday, that it is not permissible for any refugee to remain in the camps.

    The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic received, at the Baghdad Palace, the delegation of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat)," noting that "during the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Gabro, they discussed The conditions of the displaced throughout the country and the most important problems that impede their return to their cities and homes and the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement."


    The statement added, "The President of the Republic stressed the need to" start work and focus efforts on implementation in order to return all the displaced to their cities and homes, in a way that secures a decent, free, safe and stable life," stressing that "no refugee should remain in the camps."

    It pointed to the need to "strengthen coordination and cooperation between the relevant Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, and the United Nations Human Settlements Program at all levels," expressing his "readiness to help in this regard to overcome all obstacles, and that everyone should support these efforts."


    According to the statement, the President of the Republic listened to a briefing by the members of the delegation on the work of the United Nations Human Settlements Program in Iraq, and the plans developed with the Iraqi side to resolve the problems facing the displaced and ensure their return to their homes.
