The Iraqi center of innovation and creativity revealed on Sunday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani issued a directive related to the center, while announcing the achievement of about 500 patents annually in Iraq.

The head of the center, Vice President of the Arab Council for Creativity and Innovation, Zaidoun Al-Saadi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Iraq participated in 2019 in the Archimedes Conference, which was sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Defense with the participation of 55 countries and with various participations," noting that "Iraq received in the conference the highest medals and three cups."

Al-Saadi added: "We are honored that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has been an advisory member of the center for years following-up our work," noting that "Al-Sudani, directed the Board of Advisors in the cabinet to communicate with the center."
"The board of advisors met with the center and we put forward the strategy and ideas and are waiting for an answer," he said, pointing out that "patents are achieved from 400-500 annually in Iraq."

"Not all patents are Iraqi, as part of them belong to foreign companies located within the Iraqi geography, where they are registered inside Iraq in order to preserve intellectual property," he said.

"The labor market inside Iraq is governed by many things, and not all inventors are able to translate patents," he said.
