Al-Sudani's advisor announces the transfer of the files of the Diwani Affairs Committee

    The Prime Minister's Adviser for Human Rights, Zaidan Khalaf, announced the transfer of the files of the Diwani Affairs Committee (29 of 2020) to the Public Prosecution.

    Khalaf said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In implementation of the commitments contained in the ministerial curriculum of the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani regarding allegations of complaints that talked about cases of torture and forced confessions, and in confirmation of the complete rejection of these practices, files of allegations were referred.

    "Al-Sudani stressed in his directives to all relevant ministries, agencies, and intelligence agencies, to hold any government element or an executively authorized body accountable, in the event that it used these methods that are rejected in whole and in detail," noting that "he vowed to be subjected to legal accountability and judicial responses to anyone who commits these practices."He continued.

    He added, "We are working on the rule of law, equal rights and duties among citizens, and strengthening confidence by resorting to legal judicial paths," explaining that "we will not allow individual or systematic practices to harm the space of justice, or to destroy our people's confidence in the judiciary and the executive apparatus."
