The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq-CBI, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, confirmed on Tuesday, that the banking sector in Iraq looks forward to cooperate with Britain in the fields of banking, combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism."
CBI media office stated in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Governor of CBI, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, received on Tuesday the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson Richardson."
During the meeting, Makhaif stressed, according to the statement, the "strengthening of banking and economic relations between the two friendly countries," emphasizing that "the Central Bank of Iraq played a major role during the past years in revitalizing the Iraqi economy."
For his part, Ambassador Richardson lauded "the initiatives of the Central Bank of Iraq and its role in providing renewable energy loans, which reinforces Iraq's commitment to the Climate Change Agreement."
