The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Monday, that an earthquake rattled Khanaqin district in Diyala province.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the earthquake was recorded at 04:14:52 this morning, local time, and it had a magnitude of 3.3 degrees, and it is (7) km south of Khanaqin district of Diyala province."
"It was felt by the citizens of the area," the statement added.
The ministry called, according to the statement, "citizens to take precautions, to stay away from rumors and false news, as well as to abide by the seismic recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring."
