Baghdad Operations Commander Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim clarified on Friday, times of implementing security practices, and while confirming the continuation of lifting checkpoints, he indicated a number of reasons of traffic jams in the capital.

Salim told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "implementing security practices at peak times is incorrect," noting that "the Command always avoids implementing practices in the morning until the afternoon."

He added, "Sometimes there is a need to implement the security practice for information or other reasons, while avoiding it in the morning as much as possible."

He pointed out that "most security institutions carry out duties either at night or after sunset, that most of them are in the evening or at dawn."

Regarding lifting the checkpoints and reducing traffic jams, Salim stressed, "Continuing to lift the checkpoints , but gradually," noting that "the jams have other reasons, including the number of vehicles and the lack of accesses, so the jams will remain in Baghdad."
