President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed on Wednesday importance of strengthening Iraqi-German ties.
The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met, in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Martin Jaeger , during the meeting "the Ambassador handed over the President, a written message from the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier that included congratulations and blessings on the occasion of assuming the office of a President of the Republic,” the presidency said in a statement conveyed by the Iraqi news Agency INA.
According to the statement, the German president expressed “his deep wishes of luck and success for the president in his duties, mentioning some of the challenges that must be overcame including keeping the stability of the region which Iraq is playing a huge role for and continuing the fight against terrorism, in addition to climate challenges.”
On one hand, Steinmeier confirmed “Germany’s keenness to strengthen friendly bonds with Iraq on different aspects supporting its security and stability.”
On the other hand, president Rashid asked ambassador Jaeger to convey his greeting and gratitude for the German president, stressing the strength of both countries’ bonds and the necessity of upgrading them in a way that serves the aspiration of both friendly peoples.”
