President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid received today, Tuesday, a congratulatory message from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Iraq, Sattam Al-Dandah."
"The Syrian ambassador handed the President of the Republic a written message from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that conveyed his congratulations on his election as President of the Republic, and wished him success in his duties to achieve all the growth and development of the Iraqi people." The statement added.
"The message referred to the historical relations linking the two countries and the brotherly ties of the two brotherly peoples, and the need to strengthen it in all fields, in a manner that serves the common interests."
In turn, the President of the Republic expressed his thanks and gratitude to President Bashar al-Assad, expressing "Iraq's desire to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and to work together to achieve peace and stability."
