Popular Mobilization Forces PMF announced Thursday the launch of a large-scale search operation southwest of Khanaqin district, Diyala Governorate.
The commander of the Diyala Operations Sector of the Popular Mobilization, Talib al-Moussawi, said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a force from the army and the Diyala Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization began today, with a wide inspection operation that included several areas in Wadi al-Thalab, southwest of Khanaqin district, Diyala Governorate."
He added that "the operation was launched from three main axes, aimed at securing the area, Wadi al-Thalab, in pursuit of ISIS remnants and destroying its hideouts."
He added, "This operation comes within a series of pre-emptive operations aimed at securing the categorical responsibility and preventing its exploitation by terrorists."
