The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Al-Ghazi, affirmed on Tuesday, The government's readiness to provide humanitarian support to the Pakistani people following the floods that hit their country.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Iraq, Ahmed Amjad Ali."
The statement added, "Al-Ghazi offered condolences to the government and people of Pakistan, and to the families of the victims of the recent floods in the cities of Pakistan," stressing "the Iraqi government's readiness to provide humanitarian support to the Pakistani people."
Regarding the Pakistani citizens who commemorated the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) who stranded inside the Iraqi territory, due to administrative and technical errors committed by tourism agencies, which violate the controls of the Ministry of Interior and the Residence Dept, Al-Ghazi directed the Department of Decrees at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, in coordination with the Residence Department, to organize lists of visitors, in coordination with tourism agencies, and grant them permission to leave through the air and land border crossings they wish to return to their homes safely.
For his part, the Pakistani ambassador lauded the Iraqi government and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers for their cooperation with the Pakistani embassy in Baghdad, in order to solve the problem of stranded Pakistani citizens, praising the measures taken by the Ministry of Interior in facilitating the entry of the visitors.
