The Ministry of Foreign Affairs-MOFA condemned on Wednesday, the Iranian artillery and missile shelling that targeted areas in Kurdistan, declaring the highest levels of diplomatic response.
MOFA said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Iraqi government condemns in the strongest terms the Iranian artillery and missile shelling by using twenty drones carrying explosive materials, which targeted four areas in Kurdistan, causing a number of dead and wounded, in a flagrant violation that threatens the security and sovereignty of Iraq, compounding the effects of fear and terror on safe civilians."
The statement added, "These provocative actions complicate the security scene, effect the region and will only contribute to more tension."
MOFA affirmed that it is closely following the developments of the successive bombing, and renews the Iraqi government's rejection of any military response to confront the security challenges."
It also noted that it would use all the ways to ensure that such attack will not be repeated again, declaring the highest levels of diplomatic response."
