Ministry of Health announced Thursday that more than 1,000 cases of hemorrhagic fever VHFs and cholera have been recorded in Iraq since the beginning of this year.
Ministry spokesman Saif Al-Badr said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There are serious developments in VHFs, and the latest official statistic since the beginning of this year, confirms that the number of infected people has reached 299 confirmed cases, including 55 deaths."
He added, "Dhi Qar governorate leads in cases and deaths."
He also continued, "The ministry recorded 7 new cases of cholera, including 3 in Baghdad, Rusafa and 4 in Kirkuk," explaining that "the total number of infections since the beginning of the year has reached 894 so far."
