Popular Mobilization Forces announced Wednesday the launch of a security operation east of Baiji in Salah al-Din.
A statement by PMF, received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, stated that "a security force, with the participation of the Salah al-Din Operations Command, launched an operation to secure the Al-Baiji and Al-Hawi areas adjacent to the Tigris River, east of Baiji District, Salah al-Din Governorate."
The statement added, "The operation was participated by the army, the SWAT forces of the Salah al-Din Police, the 51st Brigade within the Salah al-Din Operations Command in the Popular Mobilization."
It also pointed out that "the security operation included surveying and inspecting the areas of Al-Baieji, Al-Hawi, the Damuk, adjacent to the Tigris River, to secure them completely," stressing that "this operation comes to purify and secure the rugged areas to prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements."
