Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Abdul Rashid Yarallah revealed the state of Turkish forces incursion in northern Iraq, while stressing the need to send Federal Forces.
Yarallah said during his hosting in the parliament in urgent session, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "There is an increased incursion of the Turkish forces and the occupation of many areas, and the number of points has increased to reach one hundred points inside Iraqi territory and in a few distances away from the areas of Zakho and Amadiyah areas in Dohuk."
He pointed out, "The necessity of sending the army and the Peshmerga forces to these areas and seize the empty areas of the border guards to force the Turkish forces to leave their points and imposed our control on these areas."
He pointed out that "370 km or more between us and the Turkish side is within the borders of the Kurdistan region, and there is no authority for the Ministry of Defense, and none of our soldiers were present in these areas. When we are in these places, official approvals are required," noting that “The existing federal forces are only the border forces, which are considered to be alert forces and not combatants."
And he stressed, "there are five main Turkish bases in northern Iraq that contain more than four thousand fighters."
