Parliament Speaker, Muhammad Al- Halbousi, revealed the details of the parliament’s meeting during its extraordinary session with Defense Minister Jumaa Inad, in the presence of military leaders.
Al-Halbousi said in a speech, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "some news agencies and social media pages spoke of an inaccurate order, quoting from the parliament session, that the Iraqi Defense Minister stated that we do not have the capabilities to confront the Turkish aggression, and this is not true.".
He explained that "the Minister of Defense and the military leaders reviewed the event and talked about the needs that pertain to the military institution in general, and stressed that the military leaders are at the disposal of the political decision.".
He added, "They also briefed Parliament about the causes and details of the accident, and talked about how to strengthen the security forces."
Today, Saturday, the House of Representatives held its extraordinary session, chaired by Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the presence of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein and Defense Jumaa Inad, the Army’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, and the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari.
