The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, affirmed the continuation of defending Iraq and deterring any attempt to undermine the integrity of its land.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office said, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, chaired, today, Thursday, a meeting that included security leaders and advanced cadres at the Ministry of Defense."
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kadhimi praised the Iraqi army, which made sacrifices for the sake of the homeland, and stressed that "the government, since the beginning of its formation, has worked to support the Iraqi army and build the military institution, which qualifies it to carry out its duties in protecting Iraq's borders and the lives of citizens."
He stressed the importance of the national role played by our armed forces and said that "the sacrifices they made over many years in defending the land of Iraq have contributed to building an Iraqi national ideology that belongs to Iraq, and transcends any sectarian, ethnic, or sub-identity."
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces indicated to work with the military leaders to rehabilitate all the capabilities of the Iraqi army, and directed to focus on training items and meeting the units' needs for the advancement of this institution.
In light of the conditions of the security challenges that Iraq witnessed yesterday, Al-Kadhimi sent a clear message in which he said, "We are united and continue to defend our country, and that the army's mission is to be a deterrent to any attempt to compromise the integrity of Iraq's land."
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed the security leaders to focus at this stage on the intelligence effort, raise the levels of training, and take care and attention, in order to enable our armed forces units to perform proactive operations that paralyze the possibilities of terrorism, and ward off any attack on Iraqi soil, and the lives and properties of our citizens.
