Kurdistan Regional – KRG Council of Ministers condemned on Wednesday, the bombing in Dohuk, stressing that the confrontations between Turkish forces and the PKK poses a threat to the lives of citizens.
"We condemn, in the strongest terms, the bombing of the Barkh resort within the borders of the Drakar district of the independent administration in Zakho by the Turkish forces. With great regret, it resulted in the death and injury of a number of tourist citizens. As we extend our sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of Martyrs. We wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said KRG Council of Ministers in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
The Council noted, "Recently, the Kurdistan Region has been subjected to repeated targeting from inside and outside Iraq, causing civilian casualties and material damage to their property. The federal government and the international community must exert their efforts in a more effective manner to prevent the recurrence of such violations."
“The confrontations taking place between the Turkish forces and the Kurdistan Workers' Party in the border areas of the region have become a source and a permanent threat to the lives of citizens, so we renew our call to distance the Kurdistan Region from regional problems and conflicts in which innocent citizens are victims,” included the statement.
