PM: Jeddah conference will never discuss the issue of normalization

    Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi stressed, today, Friday, that Jeddah conference, which will be held in Saudi Arabia with his attendance, will not witness the discussion of the normalization file, while talking about this was considered an attempt to confuse Iraq's restoration of its role in the region.

    Al-Kadhimi said during a press conference held in Baghdad prior to his travel to Saudi Arabia to attend the Jeddah Summit, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Jeddah conference will discuss prospects for cooperation in the files of energy, climate change and food security as it is the biggest challenge in the world and the region, and talking about its discussion of the file of normalization is incorrect, as This issue will never be raised.".

    He added, "Iraq's position on the Palestinian issue is firm and supports the rights of the Palestinian people, and it is said that the conference will discuss the file of normalization, the aim of which is to disrupt Iraq's restoration of its role in the region.".

    PM continued, "Iraq's policy is to zero problems and achieve balance in relations, and it will not be a starting point for threatening any of the neighboring countries, and Iraq will not be today or tomorrow in any axis or military alliance in the region.".

    He stressed that "our motto in the government is Iraq first, and we will continue with this approach to serve the Iraqi people."
    Regarding his upcoming meeting with US President Joe Biden, who will attend the Jeddah summit, the prime minister said that he will "discuss the file of the strategic agreement in the files of health, economic and cultural cooperation.".

    Regarding the political situation in the country, Al-Kadhimi called on the political forces to invest in the initiative of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, which he launched during Friday prayers today regarding the file of forming the government to speed up achieving this goal, expressing at the same time his thanks to the participants in the unified Friday prayers in Sadr City.
