Baghdad-INA
Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) confirmed on Sunday, the implementation of 154 operations against ISIS gangs this year, while indicating that preemptive operations against terrorism are continuing.
On the fifth anniversary of the liberation of Mosul, ICTS spokesman, Sabah Al-Numan, told Al-Iraqiya News TV, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the effort of all security forces was prominent in the operations to liberate Mosul," noting that "the task of liberating residential neighborhoods was entrusted to the anti-terrorist agency, with its left and right sides."
He added, "The device's share of the left coast was more than 63 residential neighborhoods and 13 villages, and the right coast was more than 60 neighborhoods, and it used all the expertise and capabilities, as well as the techniques in the liberation operations."
Al-Numan pointed out that "the process of liberating the old city was very difficult because of the narrow alleys and the high population density;" noting that "terrorism chose Mosul for its strategic location and its position among the Iraqis."
He continued, “ICTS has provided about 1,000 martyrs, including wounded, since its establishment until today, and 100 martyrs during the operations to liberate Mosul."
Al-Numan explained "all areas that were liberated from ISIS terrorist gangs are now enjoying stability and safety," noting that "the device has a regiment in the city of Mosul and an intelligence effort that works to extrapolate the situation, analyze the operational environment, and evaluate the activity of the terrorist organization," stressing that "preemptive operations are continuing," In areas where terrorism hides, especially outside cities.”
He noted that " ICTS carried out more than 154 operations outside the cities this year, and all city centers and suburbs are safe from ISIS terrorism."
