The highest number of medals to Iraq in West Asian Youth Athletics Championships

Iraq won the highest number of medals in the West Asian Youth Athletics Championships.

20 years under young men and women of the Iraqi team won the highest number of medals in the second West Asian Athletics Championships 2022, which was hosted by Lebanon on the stadium of Al-Jamhour Sports Club, with 25 medals as 7 gold, 12 silver and 6 bronze.

Iraq came in third place in the tournament, among the 9 participating countries: Syria, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Yemen, and Palestine.

"The Iraqi participation was wide ranged and the results obtained by the players are very good, and it is a qualifying tournament for the upcoming world championship in Colombia," said the head of the Iraqi delegation, Sabah Hassan Abdullah, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

"We thank the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports for his support of sports in general and athletics in particular," he included.
