Minister of Oil, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, mourned Wednesday the former Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, who passed away at dawn today.
He said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "I extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to the ministers of OPEC countries, to the family and relatives of the late, and to the Nigerian people."
He continued, "The late "Barkindo" was a friend of Iraq and its people, keen to enhance the role of "OPEC" in stabilizing global markets, and in facing the challenges that afflicted the oil sector and the global economy.
Today, Wednesday, the head of the Nigerian National Oil Corporation, Melle Kyari, announced the death of OPEC Secretary-General Muhammad Barkindo.
