British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed a politician of Iraqi origins, Nadhim Al-Zahawi as Minister of Finance, and his director of office, Steve Barclay, as Minister of Health, succeeding Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak.
Al-Zahawi was born in Iraq to a Kurdish family who immigrated to Britain when he was a child, and later became a lucrative commercial career.
Al-Zahawi was a former Minister of Education, and Michelle Donelan replaced Zahawi as education minister.
Javid and Sunak's resignations in protest against Johnson's leadership came after criticism mounted over the appointment of a lawmaker to an important position, despite accusations of his involvement in an ethical scandal.
