MOF: We support the strengthening of partnership between Baghdad and Beirut

    Finance Minister Ali Allawi affirmed support for strengthening partnership and development programs between Iraq and Lebanon, while Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad referred to the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.

    The media office of the Ministry of Finance said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Finance Minister Ali Abdul Amir Allawi received, today, at the ministry's office, the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad, accompanied by Lebanon's Ambassador to Baghdad, Ali Adib Al-Habhab," noting that "the two sides discussed Mechanisms for developing areas of joint work between the governments of the two brotherly countries, and ways to strengthen cooperation ties to serve the interests of the two peoples.

    Allawi affirmed, "Iraq's government and people support the State of Lebanon," pointing out that "the Iraqi government aspires to strengthen partnership and development programs that include various economic sectors on both sides  ."

    For his part, Minister Fayyad valued "Iraq's supportive role for Lebanon, especially in light of the circumstances and challenges that Lebanon is going through at the present time," noting "the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and his country's government's endeavor to expand cooperation and investment frameworks in the sectors concerned with improving the economic reality in the service of the peoples of the two countries.".
