The Ministry of Migration and Displacement (MOMD) confirmed on Friday, that we do not have a database of the numbers of Iraqi refugees abroad.
Ministry Undersecretary Karim Al-Nouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is a committee that includes the MOMD and the Ministry of Interior represented by the Directorate of Passports and Nationality concerned with granting the displaced their required documents, as well as following up on the refugee file outside Iraq," noting that "the ministry does not have an accurate statistic, But their number is large, and there is no database for the number of refugees outside Iraq."
Al-Nouri pointed out that "the ministry is ready, and has tents for emergency situations;" noting that "if any emergency situation, the ministry has previous experience in dealing with any emergency, especially since there is cooperation by others in emergency situations."
He added that "the camps for the IDPs are cost huge sums of money in terms of relief, shelter and grants, which have reached difficult numbers," noting that "the ministry is working as possible with the budget delay."
