The Meteorological Authority confirmed, today, Friday, that Iraq is currently affected by the seasonal temperature depression, and while its effects were clarified, it confirmed the absence of current reports on the return of dust storms in the next few days.
The director of the authority's media, Amer Al-Jabri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The atmosphere in the country was awakening today and recorded a slight decrease in temperatures from their general rates."
He added, "The movement of winds in the central and southern region will be northwesterly, light to moderate, in the coming hours, from 10 to 20 km per hour and active from 30 to 40 km per hour. As for the northern region, there will be a relative and gradual decrease in temperatures, and winds." Northwest will remain from 10 to 20 km per hour."
He continued, "As for the south, there will be a decrease in temperatures and northwesterly light to moderate winds, active from 30 to 40 km per hour," noting that "in the event of wind activity, there may be a slight rise in dust in some areas, but it has no effect.".
Regarding the possibility of dust storms returning within days, Al-Jabri said, “The authority does not have any new report indicating the escalation of dust storms soon,” noting that “things are normal in the country due to the control of the seasonal low temperature that affects and causes the rise of light dust with high temperatures.”
