Global oil prices leaped above $123 a barrel on Wednesday.
This came after the US Energy Information Administration announced that crude stockpiles fell last week to the lowest since 1987.
The price of Brent crude recorded $123.44 a barrel, while the price of US crude settled at $122 a barrel.
