Sayyed Al-Sadr: A committee must be formed to prevent manipulating the Food Security Law

Leader of the Sadrist movement, Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr submitted on Wednesday, a proposal to form a parliamentary oversight committee to prevent manipulating the implementation of the Food Security Law.

"The parliament's adoption of the food security law is another victory for reform efforts," said Al-Sadr in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He noted that "this proved to everyone the unprecedented strength of the Iraqi parliament in the past years."

"There is concern all about the corrupt domination of this law and its application," he highlighted, stressing "not to lose sight of the fact that the Sadrist bloc's current presence does not go beyond Parliament and does not exist in the current cabinet formation."

Sayyed Al-Sadr presented a proposal to “form a parliamentary oversight committee and one of the specialized and relevant committees to prevent manipulating and corrupting the implementation of the provisions of the Food Security Law, or else the people living sources will be lost again,” pointing out that “I will not be lenient with the ones exposing who manipulate the people living sources.”
