Foreign Minister calls for creating a dialogue path to contain the growing repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein called today, Sunday, on the Arab Contact Group countries to create a dialogue path in light of the Russian-Ukrainian war to contain the growing repercussions of the conflict at all levels.
    The ministry stated in a statement, that "this came during Hussein's participation today, in the meeting of the Arab Contact Group at the ministerial level on the crisis in Ukraine, which he called for earlier, as it was held via video conference, with the participation of the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Republic of Algeria.  
      "At the beginning of the meeting, the minister thanked the General Secretariat of the Arab League and its Secretary-General for responding to Iraq's request to hold this meeting." Hussein said.
    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said, according to the statement, that "the formation of the Contact Group was based on realizing the risks and repercussions of the war between Russia and Ukraine on the overall global situation, especially in the areas of energy and food security."
    Hussein added, "The war situation has become more and more difficult and impactful on the region, given the increasing risks in many countries due to high energy prices and shortages in many grains and supplies, and it impact on various societies in the Middle East and North Africa."
    The ministry noted that "in conclusion, the attendees praised Iraq's initiative to hold the meeting and study possible mechanisms to work on activating the proposal."
