FM Hussein, the US ambassador discuss ways to advance bilateral relations between the two countries

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received on Friday, a copy of the credentials of the newly appointed U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Ms. Alina L. Romanowski.
     
    Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency (INA)," Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and the newly appointed U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Ms. Alina L. Romanowski held talks on ways to advance bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of enhancing cooperation opportunities at various levels to meet the aspirations of the two peoples."
     
    MOFA also added, "The two sides discussed the most important climatic challenges facing the region, such as dust, drought, desertification, and the decline of biodiversity, and ways to confront all of this, to reduce the effects climate change and provide a healthy environment conducive to humanity."
     
    According to the statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs touched on the latest developments in Iraq, including the security situation, explaining that the security situation in Iraq is improving compared to the past periods, noting that the government is making great efforts to return the remaining IDPs, and to create a safe environment for their return to their areas of residence. 
     
    The statement also mentioned  that "the two sides also discussed a number of international and regional issues, and files of common interest, foremost of which are the security and military developments in Ukraine and how this conflict affects the security situation in the region in general and the economic situation in particular."
     
    For her part, the US ambassador expressed her country's commitment to provide support and assistance to the government and people of Iraq in several areas, including culture, education, health and the environment.
