PM: Iraq attaches great importance to developing relations with the United States

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi affirmed today, Thursday, that Iraq attaches great importance to developing relations with the United States of America in various fields. 

The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kadhimi received the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and the accompanying delegation, on the occasion of the assumption of her new duties.".

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated that "Iraq attaches great importance to developing relations with the United States of America in various fields, for the common and long-term interest of the Iraqi and American peoples, and that this relationship can achieve more progress while enhancing the common understanding of the two parties' vision.".

Al-Kadhimi expressed, according to the statement, the Iraqi government's desire to cooperate and work to consolidate regional and international stability, in a manner that enhances the horizon of economic advancement and sustainable development for the Iraqi people and all the peoples of the region.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated that "during the meeting, it was emphasized the continuation of security cooperation and coordination in the field of combating terrorism, and within the framework of training and advising the Iraqi security forces.".

For her part, Ambassador Romanowski affirmed that the United States of America looks forward to closer cooperation with Iraq in various fields, especially the economic, cultural and educational fields, expressing its admiration for Iraq's return to playing a major role in the region, and its positive impact regionally and internally.
