The Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation (AIFI) announced on Friday, that it had shot down a glider loaded with one million narcotic pills in Basra.
AIFI stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "After receiving intelligence information that a homemade glider was roaming the skies of Basra Governorate in (Grayshan area), we immediately formed a joint working team from the detachments of the Intelligence Agency operating in Basra Governorate and the 14th Borders Guards Brigade to monitor the area and shoot down the target, forcing the pilot to lower it and flee towards the border strip of one of the neighboring countries, as the search for him is still underway.
The statement also added that "A million narcotic pills were seized, which he intended to bring into Iraqi territory."
