Electricity Ministry enters a new energy transmission line in preparation for summer

    BAGHDAD-INA

    Ministry of Electricity announced Thursday a new power transmission line in preparation for the summer.

     The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that it is "working with its higher management and working staff to fulfill its obligations, to achieve the desired vision, message and service that it seeks to embody a reality experienced by the people of this country," noting that "the staff of the General Electricity Transmission Company for the Southern Region  was able to bring the 400 kV double-circuit electric power transmission line (Rumaila Gas - Khor Al Zubair) into operation, as the first line of its kind to be implemented in the southern region, with a length of 70 km, and a transmission capacity of 2000 megawatts in Basra Governorate.

    It added, "The project, which was directly supervised by the company's general manager, Ziyad Ali Fadel, includes the erection of 171 towers in two circles with special technical specifications, some of them reach a height of 85 meters.

    It also indicated that "the final connection works and the necessary checks on the line were completed and entered the work," explaining that "this line will contribute to strengthening and linking the Rumaila gas power plant to the national system, and will work to stabilize the electrical system in the southern region in particular and Iraq in general."

     It is worth noting that the company's staff have accomplished, during the last three years, many important infrastructure projects that contributed to the stability and upgrading of the efficiency of the national system in general, and the province of Basra in particular.
