Karbala Veterinarian hospital launches a sterilization campaign to prevent spread of hemorrhagic fever

    BAGHDAD-INA

    veterinary hospital in the holy governorate of Karbala launched Friday a campaign to sterilize animals and barns to prevent the spread of hemorrhagic fever among citizens.

     The director of the veterinary hospital, Wissam Al-Jabri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The veterinary department has taken the utmost levels of monitoring and investigation with the aim of controlling the hemorrhagic fever disease that has appeared in the neighboring provinces recently."

    Al-Jabri added that “one of the most important measures taken is to ban the entry and exit of animals from the infected areas is to launch a campaign of sterilizing animals and barns to eliminate the transporting medium for a period of one month, starting from the first of May until the 31st of it,” noting that “the aim of this campaign is to eliminate the spread of the virus.” 

     For his part, the Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Thamer Habib Al-Khafaji, said that "the Department of Agriculture instructed all hospitals in Iraq to take the necessary measures, monitor and investigate to control the disease in the governorates and contain it by eliminating the main vector, which is the tick bug, by adopting spraying for livestock and barns and immersion for sheep and goats."
