Ministry of Electricity: The Turkish link-up to transfer energy will enter into service soon

    Ministry of Electricity confirmed Wednesday ,that the Turkish link-up to transfer energy will enter into service soon.
     
    A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, had an important phone call with the Turkish Minister of Energy, Fatih Donmez, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and planning high-level development programs based on understanding and joint action in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries electrically".
     
    He added, "The issue of accelerating  the Iraqi-Turkish electrical connection to work was discussed, especially after Iraq fulfilled its obligations towards preparing the transmission lines and transfer stations necessary for this connection," noting that "the European Union agreed in principle that the Turkish transport network is linked with the European Union's electricity network."
     
    For his part, Donmez welcomed "Iraq's openness to all countries in the region and the world," noting that "his ministry is following up on the great works and steps undertaken by the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity to develop the electricity system."
     
    He promised "to make efforts and endeavors on their part towards starting the electrical connection with Iraq soon."
