Ministry of Health announced Wednesday that the recent developments of the Corona virus indicate the end of the epidemic, while it announced the rate of vaccinated people in Iraq.
The Director of Public Health in the Ministry, Riyad Abdel Amir Al-Hilfi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Corona pandemic has not ended in Iraq, and there is a possibility of a fifth and sixth wave of the Corona virus."
Al-Hilfi stressed the need "not to leave all preventive measures by citizens and adhere to them," noting that "there are deaths and infections in the Chinese city of Shanghai, with the city closed."
regarding the citizens’ desire to take the anti-Coronavirus vaccine, Al-Hilfi stressed that Iraq has not reached the required percentage that guarantees the achievement of community immunity,” noting that “the percentage of vaccinated people has now reached 25%, while it is supposed to reach 70% at least.”
He continued, "The rate of spread of the epidemic globally is small and in specific regions," noting that "the omicron variant is less severe than the rest of the variants, and if its mutations remain weak, it is a sign of the end of the epidemic."
Yesterday, Tuesday, Iraq recorded 147 new infections with the Corona virus, and 276 people recovered, while one death was recorded in Corona in all governorates.
