Basra Felonies Court issued Thursday a six-year prison sentence for a convict for the crime of threatening and blackmailing a girl.
The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a six-year prison sentence was issued against a convict for the crime of threatening (a girl) by publishing her pictures on social media and then blackmailing her by paying him sums of money," noting that "the convict received An amount of seven million four hundred and fifty thousand dinars in exchange for not publishing her pictures on social media.
The statement added that "the judgment against the convict is based on the provisions of Article 430/1 of the amended Penal Code No. 111 of 1969."
